For Inspiration

What we call the beginning is often the end.

And to make an end is to make a beginning.

The end is where we start from

                                          T. S. Eliot

The power resides in everyone to heal.
Self healing is the ultimate act of self love.
Healing others is the ultimate act of compassion.

Our naming and categorising of all that enters our field of perception has actually narrowed that field, turning it into a cage that we dont even see.

                                                               Naomi Jean

I am elated when I find words to take me into the wordless

We are so saturated with the known,

linear descriptions, rational premises

and a clinging attachment to the borders of our certainty

that our greater self has learnt to be less than what it is

in order to accommodate the inherent limitations

we have come to accept.

This exquisite facility to know truth,

to see what is not apparent,

to receive messages from the unknown

is part of us.

We are designed as multi dimensional perceptor-creators

endowed with an impersonal intelligence

that links us to all that is.

Our very DNA contains light encoded wisdom

that is our heritage.

With our every perception we are creating and influencing

the multi-dimensional dream that is our world.

The Messenger   by Mary Oliver

My work is loving the  world
Here the sunflower, there the hummingbird - equal seekers of sweetness.
Here the quickening yeast, there the blue plums,
Here the clam deep in the speckled sand.
Are my boots old?  Is my coat torn?
Am I no longer young?  And still not half perfect?
Let me keep my mind on what matters,
which is mostly standing still and learning to be astonished.
The phoebe,  the delphinium, the sheep in the pasture, the pasture
Which is mostly rejoicing, since all ingredients are love,
   which is gratitude

to be given a mind and a heart

and these body clothes, a mouth with which
to give shouts of joy to the moth, and the wren, to the sleep dug-up clam,
telling them all,  over and over,  how it is
 that we live forever.

It is acceptable
to live on the edge of possibility
on the other side of language
            the other side of ego
enjoy the process of our strivings
not their products.

'           'Be who you are
                 calm and clear and bright,

    asking yourself every minute
is this what I really want to do,

doing it only when the answer is yes.

This turns away those who have
nothing to learn from who you are
      and attracts those who do,
and from whom you have to learn as well.'

'When you learn
           what this world is
           how it works
you automatically start getting getting

'The simplest questions are the most profound
Where were you born?  Where is your home?
Where are you going?  What are you doing?
Think about these once in a while and

                        watch how your answers change.'

         'The only thing that matters

at the end of a stay on earth is

How well did you love?

What the quality of your love? '

'Your body tries to manifest what you expect'

Walter Last, Australian health and Nutrition expert

Touch the stillness
beneath the river of change and storm.
A glimmer of peace, a gift
to calm the torrents of our world.

                                    Renee Hummel

If your behaviour contradicts your values, your body knows.

Remove the word 'but' from your vocabulary and substitute 'and'.

We are guaranteed to offend others when we present our impressions and interpretations as the truth.

Nothing is more dangerous than an idea when its the only one you have.

Perhaps what we thought was the truth is no longer the truth in today's environment.

Master the courage to interrogate reality.

Intention....Permission....Commitment

Three tenets of Energetic NLP by Art Giser.  Positive change requires being clear on what you want, giving permission for help/positive energy to come in from the Universe, and taking action!

' Patience Perseverance and Perspicacity'

My lovely Dad's personal motto. Bernard Houlton 1928 - 2015

His lovely smile is much missed.

Dalai Lama

The Dalai Lama, when asked what surprised him most about humanity, answered “Man. Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived.”

'..live your life defined by who you are becoming

not by who you were in the past'

                                                                                                    Alberto Villoldo

"The vibrations of the human voice applied consciously as a therapeutic instrument have the resonating power to stimulate, release and balance the fine healing energies that create harmony and wholeness of body, mind and spirit. At every level from the cellular to the surrounding bio-energetic field of the body we are a great network of frequency vibrations which fluctuate, become weakened and literally go out of tune. If this disharmony becomes serious, disease can be the result. Through the focused, resonant use of the voice we have the capacity to alter our vibrations and our state of consciousness, be well-tuned and have true sound health. This process of toning and chanting is combined with simple movements, similar to Tai Chi and Chi Kung, which help to free the voice and direct the sound to specific energy centers and organs. The sounds are both externalized and internalized leading to periods of meditation where the deepest healing takes place. In effect this is the practice of Nada Yoga, union through inner sound, where consciousness expands and deep peace descends." - James D'Angelo

'Just as the hand
held before the eye
can hide the tallest mountain,

so the routine of everyday life
can keep us from seeing

the vast radiance
and secret wonders
that fill the world'

                  Ba'al Shem Tov

Alberto Violdo,  speaks of ...

Healing versus Curing

"Curing is remedial and involves fixing whatever outer problem arises, such as patching a tyre if you have a flat, or treating snakebite, or using chemotherapy to control a tumour. It does not help you avoid the nails in the road, the snakes in the woods or the disease that caused the tumour.

Healing is broader, more global, and complete.  Healing transforms one's life and often, though not always, produces a physical cure.  I have seen many medical cures in which healing did not occur.  I have also seen instances in which there was great healing but the patient passed away.

Healing results from an experience of infinity. While healing, we measure success by increased well-being, by a sense of new-found peace, empowerment and a feeling of communion with all life. "

"Be silent.

Silence will help you avoid engaging in the games of competition and illusion

that regularly seduce us in the outside world.

Silence also helps you avoid distraction.

It helps focus the busy mind

 - the mind that always has to be doing something, thinking something,

the mind that always has to be otherwise engaged

lest it become introspective and allow the soul's voice to override its own.

The silence I am describing is a silence that you use

to contain the grace you receive when you enter the Castle of your soul.
This quality of silence allows you to engage in discernment.

You carry this silence within you, even when you are with others.

 It allows you to hold your centre amid the chaos of your life;

it keeps you clear so that you do not do or say things you will regret

or make decisions out of fear. "

~ Caroline Myss ~

"Our goal while on this earth is to transcend our illusions and discover the innate power of our spirit. We are responsible for what we create, and we must therefore learn to act and think with love and wisdom and live in service to others and all life."

~ Caroline Myss ~

"Do not assume that divine guidance flows only when you are in need of help. Guidance continues to flow whether or not you have problems.
It transcends problems, heartbreaks, and traumas,
flowing through dreams and illuminations.
Whether guidance comes during times of tranquillity or trauma, however,
it is up to you to have the courage to acknowledge it"

~ Caroline Myss ~

“Healing is a different type of pain. It’s the pain of becoming aware of the power of one’s strength and weakness, of one’s capacity to love or do damage to oneself and to others, and of how the most challenging person to control in life is ultimately yourself.”
― Caroline Myss

“Just let go. Let go of how you thought your life should be, and embrace the life that is trying to work its way into your consciousness.”

What drains your spirit drains your body. What fuels your spirit fuels your body.”

From Doreen Virtue

CHAOS

"When everything seems to fall apart, that's when everything new that you prayed for has room to enter  your life."

FORGIVENESS
"Forgiveness is the key to breaking the cycle of karma and reincarnation. Forgiveness doesn't mean: "What you did was okay." It simply means, "I'm no longer willing to carry the heavy toxic burdens of anger, resentment, and victimhood in my soul." You can work on healing, uplifting, and changing situations from a place of forgiveness, instead of from a place of resentment. Forgive yourself and everyone, and you are free!"

PURIFY YOUR THOUGHTS
"When dealing with a difficult person, all that matters from a spiritual standpoint is how you react and treat the person. It's not about getting the other person to change or agree with you. Your spiritual growth is all about the way that YOU deal with the relationship, the person, and the situation. Even if the situation would justify you acting harshly, resist this temptation. Ask for heaven to purify and uplift your thoughts and feelings so that everything you do and say is aligned with Divine Love. This is the path and purpose of the lightworker. This is why you are here."

From Byron Katie:

'As the mind realises itself
it stops identifying with its own thoughts.
This leaves a lot of open space!'

 'There's a natural balance

in all things.

If you go too far to one extreme

life kindly brings you back

to the centre.'

Who would you be without your story?

You will never know until you inquire.

There is no story that is you

or leads to you.

Every story leads away from you.

You are what exists before all the stories

You are what remains

when all the stories are understood.'

A few aphorisms from The Pocket Philosopher by Simon May...food for thought

'Some mistakes are too good to be regretted.'

'Few of our trials actually happen.'

'We can believe in so much and yet take a stand on so little.'

'Great ideas are seldom refuted, just superseded.'

'We value our choices more than we choose our values.'

'Many can master a moment, few can master a transition.'

Song of the Eight verses of Zhineng Qi Gong by Prof Pang Ming

The head touches the sky, feet stand on earth.
The body relaxes and mind expands.
Be respectful and quiet.

The mind is clear and appearance is humble.

No distracting thoughts.

The mind expands to infinite space.

Feel the mind shining into the body deeply, inwardly.

The entire body is harmonised with qi.

Earth Teach Me

Earth teach me quiet - as the grasses are still with new light

Earth teach me suffering - as the stones suffer with memory

Earth teach me humility - as blossoms are humble with beginning

Earth teach me caring - as mothers nurture their young

Earth teach me courage - as the tree that stands alone

Earth teach me limitation  - as the ant that crawls on the ground

Earth teach me freedom - as the eagle that soars in the sky

Earth teach me acceptance - as the leaves that die each autumn

Earth teach me renewal - as the seed that rises in the spring

Earth teach me to forget myself - as melted snow forgets its life

Earth teach me to remember kindness - as dry field weeps with rain.

Stunningly beautiful, peaceful and a reminder of balance!

Read Roger Hamilton's little book 'WINK - A Modern Day Parable of Wealth Beyond Words'   Keys to the creation of abundance and fulfillment. A deceptively simple little book.

Byron Katie: I highly recommend her website, her many Youtube clips and books. Take some  time to do your own' Judge Your Neighbour Worksheet', free from her website,  and watch all the film clips you can, so that you really get this.

She has developed a simple and powerful technique to release us from stress by applying these  simple questions to our stressful thoughts:

1. Is it true?   (eg My husband doesn't listen to me)

2. Can I absolutely know that its true ? (Hmm, well  he did bring me that book I asked for ..)

3. How does that thought make me feel? (awful, stressed, uncared for, angry, resentful....)

4. Who would I be without that thought? ( liberated, open, elaxed, happy, loving...)

Then the turnaround...find 3  opposites that are at least as true as your initial stressful thought, and ask the mind to gather at least three pieces of evidence. Once the mind has opened to this  opposite, and found its own proof, it will look for more and more evidence to prove the new thought is really true! And the opened mind can never close again - it becomes too vast.

So, 'my husband doesn't listen to me' could become:

  • My husband does listen to me
  • I dont listen to my husband
  • I dont listen to myself

In her book A Thousand Names For Joy, Byron Katie says :

If you knew how important you are

you would fragment into a billion pieces

     and just be light.

Believing what you think

you are carried off into the endless drama

of the the self.

There is no story that is you

or that leads to you

Every story leads away from you.

The Dalai Lama's name means 'Ocean of Wisdom'.  When I went to see him speak at a two day event in 2012 I was so impressed by his happiness and sense of fun!

In her book 'Do It or Ditch It' Bev James advises to just start from where you are, dont wait for 'if only', use what you've got and build on it. She urges us all to get out of our comfort zone and into our stretch zone . As Nicholas Cage said: ' Begin Anywhere'.
